Make Your Own Geode

geodeinsideYou know how those asteroids in Trash Blasters explode and things jump out of them. They’re kind of similar to geode crystals.  Here’s a funny story from Aurora and a neat geode experiment for you to try.

My husband still won’t let me forget this one… I’m rather small as far as humans go (5′ 0″ to be exact), and we had a small, cracker-box size apartment when we were first married. It was so small that the microwave was on top of the fridge. I was discovering how to grow different kinds of crystals, and I used the microwave to heat up crystal solutions and then removed the jars to cool on the window sill. I never actually looked inside the microwave (I couldn’t see that high), so I just sort of felt around and yanked the jars out as I needed them. Continue reading

Tips Tuesday: Daily Missions

Welcome to  “Tips Tuesdays.” This is the place to come when you want to learn more about how to make your job as a cadet easier. We also have things to help our cadet’s parents to navigate through our universe. And we’ll have lots of fun activities for the younger siblings of our adventurers as well.

Today we bring you a few tips about the Daily Missions that you’ll be getting from us. We want you to be successful in your daily missions, so here are a few things that you should know. First of all, when you complete a Daily Mission you’ll be receiving bonus stars so you benefit yourself when you complete them.

Each and everyday Bong and I will assign you a daily mission. Once completed this daily mission will earn you a fistful of stars to do with as you will. We will tell you what the game name is, but generally not the location. So here’s a little cheat sheet to help you find your way on Planet Central:

  • Meteor Storm: Blizzard Valley
  • Alpha Defender: Photon Station
  • Star Busters: Mysteria Forest
  • Quasar Field: Get into your spaceship, click on the map and head to Quasars
  • Trash Blasters: Grab your spaceship, click on the Trash Blasters on upper right hand corner of map
  • Space Pirates: The Badlands (where else?)
  • Ping a Friend: Click on your friend count at the top  of your screen. Click on the little green caret on the bottom right hand corner. This opens up a screen that lists your friends. Select one and pick an emoticon to send.
  • Visit Your Planet: Board your spacecraft and select your planet’s name (it’s located on the right hand side of your screen once you open up your map)

That about covers our Daily Missions Tip for today. Stay tuned for more next week.

The New “My Tiny Planets” Game Revealed

This week we’ve released a new version of MyTinyPlanets.com, created based on feedback we’ve received from dedicated players, like you.  While keeping many of the elements that make My Tiny PlanetsTM enjoyable today, we’ve altered and added several features to really amp up the fun.  Here’s a sneak peek at a few:

  • Space Flight. There are new games in space, like Trash Blasters and targeting quasars, comets, and red dwarf stars to keep you earning stars wherever you travel.  And, you no longer need a browser plug-in, so performance is dramatically improved.
  • Cadet Awards.  In addition to earning stars, you earn awards, which increase your rank in the game.  Earn your Flight Wings, Social Hub, Moon Bouncer and Arcade Wizard badges, among others.
  • Spaceships. Spaceships are redesigned, and early testers are giving them a rousing thumbs up!
  • Hangar and Cockpit. Buy more ships from your hangar, select the one you want, and hop in.  From your cockpit plot your flight plan – to Nebula Neighborhoods to visit your friends, to your own planet, to space games, or back to Planet Central.  Don’t forget to engage your laser (use space bar to fire) when on a space exploration!
  • Missions. We’ve introduced mini missions, giving you a new way to earn stars and progress through the game.
  • Minigames. All the minigames have been revamped and include special features like power-ups.  Challenge your friends on the leaderboards by “Going Pro”!
  • Chat. We’ve pioneered a new chat system, “Click-to-Chat”.  When you see a player with a speech bubble over his head, simply click on the speech bubble and choose from several responses presented.  No more tedious typing, and rock-solid, safe interactions for your family.
  • Planet-o-Matic. Decorating your planet has never been easier with the planet-o-matic.  Simply click to drop in new backgrounds, skies and buildings!
  • Virtual Currency. We’ve introduced a virtual currency called “Keys.”  When you subscribe or make a one-time purchase, you get KeysKeys unlock premium content, like cool landscapes for your planet, cadet accessories and new spaceships. We’ve partnered with Social Gold to provide our payments engine.  Now you can buy currency in-game, and you can purchase via mobile, game cards, credit card or PayPal in several currencies.
