Halley’s Report: Reassigned to Central Space

Halley SpeaksHi everyone. This is Halley again. Things sure have changed since I first started observing Bing & Bong. Once upon a time there was a place called “Planet Central.” Everyone hung out there so it was much easier to keep an eye on everyone and plenty of places to hide too.  I was kind of sad when Bing and Bong were reassigned to Central Space, but an explorer has to go where an explorer has to go.

Bing, ever the historian, has kept records of the fun times we all had in Planet Central just a few short months ago. I’ve discovered that some of Bing’s historical records have been picked up by the Earth network called the internet, or world wide web. Those records may  cause a little confusion for many new cadets because sometimes you may come across an entry that refers to things that no longer exist. So I’m sneaking into their archival system and putting labels on the records that no longer apply.  They’ll thank me one day (and so will you!)

See you in Central Space!

This is Halley, signing off!

Earned that Tourist Badge Yet?

Knowing how to get around Planet Central is just as important as being able to jet around the galaxy. Actually it may be even more important. Imagine how embarrassed you’d be having to ask a citizen how to find your hangar.  So, we’ve decided to give cadets who can find (and use) our Planet Central Transit Authority effectively the coveted Tourist Badge.

And we’ve decided to give you a little hint on how to get it done.  While you’re floating around Planet Central, why don’t you check out the following modes of transportation:

  • Mean Flocker Creek to Blizzard Valley
  • Flocker Pass to Badlands
  • Bubble Car to Cyberia Mall
  • Space Elevator to Apollo Market
  • Space Elevator to Cyberia Mall
  • Photon Station

And, make use of that map at the top of your navigator frame to speedily jump from one place on Planet Central to the next.  I hope to be pinning that badge on you real soon, so don’t disappoint me — get to traveling!

Mysteria Forest

Hey Bing,

The battle of wits with the Pirates of the Badlands really takes a lot out of a guy.  After I received my standing “O” for defeating those sneaky pirates (once again!) I decided that my cadets needed a bit of a break from the dangers that lurk in The Badlands. With that thought in mind, I decided to use the secret tunnel from the Desert Badlands to take a quick visit to Mysteria Forest.

It was wonderfully relaxing. You know me — always ready to take the cadets through their paces. So, after a filling picnic lunch (so wonderfully provided by the grateful denizens of the Badlands), I introduced the cadets to Star Buster for the first time.

Now, although I’ve done this training a gabillion times before, I never get tired of the way the stars come together when a sharpshooter like Rykov gets his hands on the controls. But I must say that even the newest of our cadets was able to catch on to the controls pretty quickly and made it to the Leader Board.

There was a lot of joking and jostling around the campfire that night.  We all woke refreshed and ready to return to our patrol duty.

Well, that’s been my day. How are things with you Bing at Planet Central?

Gotta dash!

Your Buddy,

Bing

Tip Tuesdays: Shopping

Cadets, your progress is coming along quite nicely. Your missions are completed in a timely manner and you have been very precise in following the rules of space etiquette. Very good indeed! So, as a reward for all of your good works I’d like to share with you a way to save time and get into the action a lot faster.

You may not be aware of it, but you are able to make purchases outside of the stores located at Planet Central. When you’re in a hurry, instead of leaving the spaceport and trudging down to Speedy Spaceships, waiting on line and then trudging back to the hanger to begin your journey, all you have to do is buy the ship at the hanger! Here’s how you do it:

  1. Proceed to the Hangar.
  2. On the lower left hand side of the screen where you can see the hologram of the ships available. You’ll see a little sign that says “Get More”
  3. Select the ship you like (and have enough Star and KEYs for) and away you go!

And believe it or not you’ve been carrying another great shopping timesaver right in your  pocket –  it’s your Passport!

When you open up your Passport you can teleport directly to your planet (no need to go to the hanger!). If teleportation isn’t your favorite way to travel, select your spaceship and head into space.  Here’s how you do it:

  1. Just click on your avatar on the left of your command screen.
  2. This will open your passport.
  3. You’ll be presented with a choice between Planets or Ships.
  4. Choosing Planet will take you to your planet. (And of course choosing Ships lets you choose your spaceship.)

Well that’s enough Timely Tips for today. Be sure and check us out every Tuesday for more hints and tricks.
